Earthwork Around Your Cache County Build.
Earthwork is an essential part of the construction process that needs to be taken care of before concrete can be poured or walls framed. It’s the true foundation of your home or business, the soil that surrounds and supports the weight of your structure or building. And as such, proper backfilling, soil testing, and earthwork is a crucial to the integrity and life of your building. We always begin the process by first testing the soil we’re going to be working with. We want to make sure that the correct types of dirt are acquired and that we can dig any drainage ditches necessary beforehand. After any prep work has been completed, our earthwork contractor will go ahead and begin digging in the specified area. Once the correct depth has been reached, we’ll wait until the foundation has been poured and installed before backfilling and compacting the soil.

This last step is crucial when in it comes to ensuring that your foundation is going to last. Not only does the correct type of backfill need to be chosen according to the current state of the surrounding dirt and level of the water table, but it also needs to be compacted or settled. This can be done using water, where we’ll insert a high-pressure jet near the bottom or simply use a weight or vibrating machine to pound the ground flat and settle any loose soil.
How Much Does It Cost?
This often depends upon the type of service you’re looking for, the size of the project, and whether or not we’ll be traveling outside of Cache Valley Utah. However, if you’re looking to dig out a space for your basement, you should expect to pay anywhere between $1,300-$4,500 for a home, and even more for a large commercial property. If you’re looking to dig out an area for a swimming pool in the backyard, expect to pay around $150 per hour of our work. However, this number truly depends on the size of the project, the depth needed, and where the pool is to be located. Whatever the project is, we always make sure to find a way to work with your budget and offer a fair price! |

FAQ
How long does it take?
When it comes to excavating an area for a basement, crawlspace, or foundation, you’re generally looking at three to four days of work. This can vary depending on soil conditions and the size of the project, but in general you shouldn’t expect a small residential project to take much longer than three weeks. If you have any questions or are trying to meet a tight deadline, give us a call today at 435-210-5948, we’d be more than happy to give you an estimate and answer any other questions you’d like to ask.
How Do yOu Prepare To Dig Out a foundation?
Before any earth excavation takes place in Logan Utah, we’ll actually survey the lot your planning on building on. We mark rough measurements of where your home or building will be constructed, and then go ahead and invite a geologic engineer to test the soil and give us the green light. Occasionally we may be instructed to do what’s called an over dig. We’ll go ahead and dig deeper and wider than the plans require in order fill the foundation with a non-expansive backfill. This generally happens when soil conditions are poor and don’t have the structural integrity needed to build on. After the survey has been completed we’ll make precise marks and begin digging.
